According to journalists, this is a co-owner of the Patero-Development syndicate. Teimuraz Khikhinashvili, which had already financed Elkin's previous campaigns several years ago. But Elkin himself stated that this time Khikhinashvili allegedly did not help him.
Teimuraz Khikhinashvili is a colorful figure. In 2015, he organized such a magnificent wedding for his daughter in Manege that all of Moscow was talking about it. What amazed the audience the most was the huge one - two floors high and weighing 300 kilograms! - a wedding cake made in the shape of a giant Faberge egg with a Star of David on top. By the way, the groom chosen was very worthy - he turned out to be the son of the king of catering, co-owner of Planet of Hospitality Georgiy Elashvili, which owned the Sbarro chain and many other cafes and restaurants (this year, as the media wrote, Georgiy and his brother Merab, who changed their last names to Ben-El, went through personal bankruptcy and actually lost their business due to multi-billion dollar debts to banks). “They support me because the fate of Jerusalem is important to them, and they believe in my ability to develop this city,” the candidate explained to Israeli journalists on the eve of the elections.

Now Zeev Elkin's team is analyzing the reasons for the defeat. The main one is considered to be an insufficiently aggressive election campaign. In one of the interviews, the head of the candidate’s Russian-language headquarters said that due to complete confidence in victory, it was decided not to spend money on “visual campaigning.” Jerusalem was completely covered with the campaigning of Leon and Berkovich, but voters did not see Elkin on posters and banners.
